When life throws you a curve ball.

Life doesn’t always go our way, and sometimes that is a great thing. When I think back over my life to all the times I had a plan to accomplish something and it didn’t work out, I have to laugh and be thankful. Why am I laughing and thankful you ask? Well, because what ends up happening in place of what I wanted is usually better than I could have planned. Notice I said better not easier.

For example; recently I was diagnosed with a medical condition that forces me to restrict my physical activity significantly for several weeks. That’s a pretty big curve ball when you consider what my schedule was, but I will not bore you with those details here. I could have thrown myself a pity party and bemoaned all the parts of my life that would be adversely affected by the restrictions. Instead though, I chose to see it as a blessing in disguise. Now all those projects that I put off; because they required me to sit and focus; can get done, because I can’t do any of that routine that kept me so busy. That’s not at all the way I planned to get these projects done. In my mind I was going to somehow take a day here and there to focus on these things and eventually they would have been done sometime before 2011. Now those things will be done by the end of March 2010, how cool is that!

So, what do you do when life throws you a curve ball? You hit it out of the park of course. I would love to hear your curve ball stories so please feel free to share.

To your ultra life.
